It has been so long since we updated our website and we apologize. We
have been completely wrapped up in the recording/mixing process of our new record. We also played a couple of shows at the end
of October with a nice band from Iceland. We're proud to announce that
our third record is now completely tracked out and about 60% mixed. Their
is around 22 songs to pick from come album slim down time. We spent the
past three months recording all the string tracks in a large home in Lake
Oswego. Due to its very open nature, as in not really lived in, we captured
many natural room sounds and reverbs to add depth to the string parts,
which are larger and fuller than ever. Half of the drums were recorded
with Skyler Norwood at Miracle Lake, and other half were done at Talknumeric.
Most of the instrumentation was also done at Talknumeric. Its impossible
for us to aptly express how excited we are about this record, and we are
shooting for a late spring release. We are planning on touring the West
coast in February as well, where we will be playing many of the new songs.
Check back for more information on our third record....Here are some photos
in the meantime taken by Jason Quigley...

Today is a proud day for us, with the first international release of our
second album.. Beat Romantic hits
the shelves today in the UK and neighboring
European nations. London based Tangled Up! Recordings,
a subsidiary of One Little Indian releases the album today. Thus far,
the new batch of press for the record has been stunning. The album features bonus material including a cover of Brian
Eno's "Sombre Reptiles" and a video for "Mountain Cats".
The album was preceded by the single for
"Cascade Locks", which also includes a live version of "Manhattan
'81" recorded this past June at the Earl in Atlanta, Georgia.
9.1.07
We're excited to announce the winner of the artwork contest for our first UK single, "Cascade Locks" from Beat
Romantic. Dustin Williams' design for the cover is below.
The album will be releasing on September 17th in the Uk. It features additional material, including the video for "Mountain
Cats" and a cover of Brian Eno's "Sombre Reptiles". The "Cascade Locks"
single also features a live recording of "Manhattan '81" from our recent
show in Atlanta this past June. We are also hitting the studio hard recording
our third record...which we hope to finish in the next couple months.

I just got back from a trip to New York to attend the
PLUG AWARDS with Justin from HORSE FEATHERS who were nominated
for Americana Album of the Year! Although we didn't win, we did have a
damn good time hanging out with Jon Cohrs and all the lovely folks in
his Williamsburg neighborhood. It was cold as hell, and busy as heck.
The "sportsman" at THE LEVEE was the drink of choice. Ands thanks to the
Greenpointe Tavern for all those 3am 32oz beers. The highlights of the
awards show included Deerhoof, El P, and my favorite comedian as host,
David Cross. On the TALKDEMONIC front, I
have some huge news to announce this week!!!
2.04.07

09.26.05
Our shows in Chicago and Minneapolis were awesome, great turnouts and
good times all around. Minneapolis on sat was possibly our best show of
tour. We drove all day sunday and stayed in a creepy hotel in the middle
of nebraska. We went swimming in a david lynch-esque pool that had a creepy
whirlpool with a tornado in the middle. Today we drove all the way to
Denver where I'm sitting in the awesome HI DIVE bar as Lisa and Dustin
check out some rocks and nature up in boulder. Also tonite, we are meeting
back up with the SWORDS crew which is exciting. Here are a couple pics
from our CMJ SHOW at PIANO's on the 16th. When we get home, we will have
TOUR EP's for sale at our show at dantes' with clap you hands and the
national. See you soon. 09.22.05
So I can't really remember where we are or what we've done...its all kinda
washing out. No actually we are in LOUISVILLE,KY staying in a comfort
inn with the national boys. The past four shows have been amazing, we've
been witnessing the phenom that is CLAP YOUR HANDS SAY YEAH and the awesome
delivery and strength of THE NATIONAL. All good people, and good times.
The past four nites have been sold out and insane. We played soccer for
an hour last nite in Newport, ky at the southgate house. I would like
to announce that the national/talkd team kicked the junk out of the cyhsy
team. They went down. I can't believe the bartenders allowed it, guess
they liked us. Tomorrow we're back in Chicago. NY was insane, two good
shows and lots of money spent on $80 drinks. I spotted Steven Seagal on
the street on central park south. Our host, the amazing wendy, lived right
on central park south. I got to see neat paintings at the met and walk
around the great city of ny. We are bringing the love of talkdemonic to
the people....a late nite random rant. 09.16.05
Okay, seriously, we are in New York right now staying in trump plaza,
just got here after a crazy ass load out from a packed ass PIANO"S
on the lower east side. SO our TOUR Diaries. SO I've posted a bunch of
random rants which i would call THE TOUR DIARIES...
CHECK THEM OUT FROM HERE on down, they are un edited!!!!!!!
9.15.05 Our tour seems to get better by the minute. our show in chicago
was awesome, the best sound system and sound man (steve) we've ever come
across. even better sounding than the dougfir. hard to believe i know.
schuba's was the place. chicago is a huge city. wow....N> MANCHESTER,INDIANA
is where its at. a small town in the middle of nowhere with an all ages
club called THE FIREHOUSE where all the shows are FREE and the place is
run by a teacher named jabin, the raddest dood ever, and a bunch of high
school kids. it is basically heaven on earth for them. the ceilings are
covered in blankets, couches are everywhere and the kids rule it. it truly
was a perfect place....they even hooked us up with hotel rooms. we played
with this band from toronto named CREEPING NOBODIES who were spastic like
the talking heads, and edgy like the minutemen. super good. the swords
and us went out drinking after the show with jabin. free fry nite at the
inn. needless to say, we are a little hungouver today on our drive. we
are driving through ohio on our way out to new york. hopefully we'll get
in tonite. the church van is rocking for us, something we were a bit worried
about. i think it helps to have my GIZMO doll leading the way with his
big ears on the dash, watching the road for us.
9.12.05 Probably the coolest day of tour yet. A two day straight drive
from Moscow to minneapolis. We left at 10am on sunday and got into minneapolis
at 7pm on monday. We hardly even stopped, drove through the night to get
to the 400 bar on time. Dylan, the nice promoter from moscow called us
around 10 last nite to tell us that we had forgotten our cymbal bag and
milk crate with all of our cords and my sound card. dood, what amateurs
we are! his good buddie bennie has been nice enough to fed ex the cymbals
and stuff to new york. thanks man. but last nite was saved by the northern
lights, taking up the whole sky, a total religious experience for me.
maybe i believe in god again. it was the best display nature has ever
thrown my way. on two occasions, the sky just lit up. for 10 to 15 minute
periods. wow, it was holy. especially coming from the baptist van......the
show at 400 bar was awesome. very mellow and nice, tom was the coolest
promoter i've ever met. he told us stories about wynona rider and other
rock giants from minneapolis. now we are staying in lizs' mansion of a
house. i will write more about the greatness of today tomorrow. oh yeah,
we also went to fargo today and bought new cords and some gear. a very
underrated place for sure. nice people, and a slammin 5 dollar chinese
buffet. werd. analog blog. dustin is the king of buffet, we've found out,
he ate five plates of food.....the show went great in minneapolis even
with our substitute gear. tomorrow we drive to chicago.
09.11.05
We are travelling on the highway 90 on our way out to minneapolis, a two
day 21 hour drive that has been fun so far. Our van chugs atleast a gallon
of gas every 11 miles, not a very cost effective way to travel, but we
are really comfy. we've made it through two shows so far, moscow idaho
was last night. really fun, good crowd, lots of old friends too. swords
played first then us, in the land of university free shows. FRI nite was
a little tramatic for us since someone ripped off one of our bags that
had $500 cash, and all of lisa's stuff in it. The cops called us the next
morning before we left and returned the bag with her wallet, sans mullah
and no cell phone. It's sad that had to happen to us right before we left,
and on our home turf at berbati's. it just takes one butthole i guess.
the show was totally awesome though, lots of nice people we met that night.
My girlfriend liz has really really bad gas, and its blowing us out of
the van. We slept in a munchkin style room last night at our friend luke's
house in moscow idaho, where we thought at any minute jon cusack would
pop out of the closet talking about jon malkovichs' brain. It was really
cold in moscow, kind of a shock for us. We had really yummy coffee and
organic stuff at the moscow co-op, and ran into our friend mark and sarah.
hey guys.
the sky has opened up for us in montana and the trees are swaying gently
in the wind as the sun peaks in the side window of our church van. jesus
must be smiling as the talkdemonic train heads out east to turn over the
youth of america to the dark side of satanism. no, not really okay liz,
i was joking.

Once again, TOTAL FEST 2005 in Missoula,
Montana proved to be a great time. Over 40 bands, packed into two barnburning
days. Thanks to Josh Vanek of Wantage USA for having us out, hooking up
the awesome bbq, and the great show at the RECORD SWAP outdoors on Sat.
I even scored a copy of Kurtis Blow's first record. Heck-yes. . . The
artwork for "beat romantic" is about finished, a very spooky layout put
together by our friend justin ringle who also plays music as Horsefeathers.
Check back soon for a peek at the cover and tour photos from the west
coast trip.

HEY ALL!! We are back from our TOUR with
MENOMENA and THE NATIONAL.
It was an amazing time for us. Other than our van breaking down in Vacaville,
CA (which ended up being a rad thing since we were able to hang with MENOMENA
and NATIONAL more in their vans) all went off without a hitch. We already
miss our fine friends in THE NATIONAL and we wish them the best in europe
next month. Thanks to all the nice people who put us up and all the cool
folks we met at our shows. We love u. We will have more stories and
pictures up on this site very soon.

enough to play a sold out show at Berbati's this past Friday to celebrate
the honor alongside Pt. Juncture Wa, and Wet Confetti. Check out the article
HERE!

We are playing a show this THURSDAY with HOOD,

Thanks to everyone who came out to our show this past Saturday at the
Dougfir. Both TRACKER and YACHT
ripped it up. It is always a pleasure playing shows with such talented
people. We are busy this week continuing the mixing process of the new
record, with a trip to JACKPOT on thursday and some other mixing at home
at Talknumeric.

The BRIDGETOWN
BREAKS LP is now available at Jackpot! record stores and 360Vinyl
here in portland. The 12" is a collection of raw live drum tracks from
Kev of Talkdemonic, Danny of Menomena, Charles of Quivah, and Josh from
Systemwide. It even features a drum battle via Danny and Kevin. All the
drums were recorded at Jackpot studio onto 2"tape with our friend Jon
Cohrs manning the knobs. We are very happy with the way the drum tracks
came out, sample away hiphop break produciones.....We have a show this
weekend with TRACKER and YACHT at the DOUGFIR LOUNGE, SAT MAR 12th. The
show starts at 9pm sharp with my fave electronic laptop musicman YACHT.
Hope to see you there.
03.02.05
Our hearts go out to our friends in SUBTLE
whose van hit a patch of ice a few days ago on tour near Omaha, Nebraska.
Dax Pierson suffered a shattered vertebrae but is awake and hopefully
on his way to a full recovery. We wish them the best in this unfortunate
event. Our thoughts will be with them.
02.25.05
Our show in seattle this past saturday was massive. Extra special thanks
to SUBTLE for inviting us up for a show, they are extremely awesome fellas.
We are still hard at work mixing the new record and collecting possible
pictures and such for the artwork. ... Kev played drums with Viva Voce
last nite alongside Sam of Modernstate, Danny of Menomena, and Mike of
Wet Confetti. For all that were there, it was a quadrophonic drum experience,
as we set up in the four corners of Holocene.... The Bridgetown Breaks
record should be coming out soon, it is an LP of all drums from four portland
drummers. More info soon.
02.10.05
More good news! We have been invited to play with a show with SUBTLE
(dose one, jel of themselves/anticon fame) and with another of our favorite
bands DEPARTMENT
OF EAGLES in Seattle on February 19th. We are incredibly stoked!!
Subtle's new record is called the new white and was released recently
by the UK's LEX records. Department of Eagles' album Whitey on the
Moon is one of our fave records of 2004, cutting across the gamut
of musical genres, from hiphop to pop to beat-driven-electro. The show
is Sat Feb 19th at the Chop Suey in Seattle.
02.08.05
HUGE NEWS!!! HUGE NEWS!!!! We have officially signed onto the ARENA ROCK RECORDING CO. for a late August 2005 release of our second album
tentatively titled "beat romantic." We are heading back into Miracle Lake
and Jackpot! for some mixing and polishing of the record.
Thanks a ton to all the people who came out to our shows this past week at the Dougfir, PSU, and the Fresh Pot anniversary party. Along with Menomena and the Kingdom, we managed to sell out the Dougfir on fri, rocked the lunchtime studiers at PSU on wed, and finally brought the cops to a packed mississippi Fresh Pot along with our LM family members the Snuggle Ups. The sat nite freshpot affair was also lisa's birthday!
02.03.05
Welcome to the brand spanking new Talkdemonic website!!!! It has been
an incredibly busy new year for Lisa and I thus far. We have finished
recording our second album, tentatively titled "beatromantic", and is
slated for a August 2005 release followed by a full on TD US tour.
Also, January 2005 also has brought the release of our first album "mutinysunshine"
on blue vinyl. I tell you what, they look really good, (a cloud stopped,
and a Nebraskan tour daydream was realized).
